The only people who can change the current policies of Montgomery County Public Schools are families who care to protect freedom of religion as set forth in the first amendment of the US Constitution. Please do as much as you can and call others to this cause. Many parents are still not aware of this movement and the value of what it brings to our children.
"Religious freedom is one of the most fundamental of human rights because religious freedom comes from the dignity of the human being as God's creature." Suharto
Take action by joining the Council on American-Islamic Relations, Montgomery County Muslim Council, Coalition of Virtue and ICNA Council for Social Justice in telling the Montgomery County Public Schools' Superintendent and Board of Education that you oppose MCPS' recent decision to undermine the rights of families and the spirit of Maryland state law by
1) banning Pre-K through 12th grade students from opting-out of classroom discussions on sexually-themed reading material and
2) ordering schools not to notify parents about when such content will be presented.
By introducing reading materials that contradict the religious views of local families as part of the school curriculum without advance parental notice, an opt-out option or another reasonable religious accommodation, MCPS is violating the rights of families and guardians, and undermining Maryland state law, which requires parents or guardians to have the option to remove their children from “Family Life and Human Sexuality” content.

A protest is an event or action where people gather with others to publicly express their opinions about something that is happening in society.
There are a variety of potential goals for a protest: influence public opinion, draw attention to and share information about a perceived injustice, gain a wide audience for the cause, push public policy or legislation forward, learn more about an issue, connect with others who feel passionate about the issue, speak one's truth and bear witness.
Protests can also provide inspiration and a sense of being part of a larger movement. The overarching purpose of protests is to demand change.
